Dear Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo,
As you conclude your distinguished tenure as Vice-Chancellor of Kibabii University, I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation for the exceptional leadership, mentorship, and vision you have demonstrated throughout your service. Your legacy extends far beyond institutional achievements; you have nurtured generations of leaders, including Vice-Chancellors, Deputy Vice-Chancellors, and countless members of staff whose careers have flourished under your guidance.
While many institutions prioritize experience alone, you recognized potential, invested in it, and patiently transformed it into excellence. Your remarkable ability to know every member of staff by name and to acknowledge even the most junior officers reflected your humility, humanity, and genuine concern for people.
I joined Kibabii University as a Technologist in 2016, and you assured me that you would support my professional growth. You faithfully honoured that promise, and by 2023, I had progressed to the position of Lecturer. That achievement stands as a testament to your commitment to mentoring and empowering others to realize their full potential.
Thank you, Prof. Ipara, for your unwavering trust, inspiration, and servant leadership. Kibabii University is stronger and more distinguished because of your enduring contribution. Your legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
With deep gratitude and highest regard,
Dr. Daniel Khaoya Muyobo

Maombi yetu yawe pamoja naye.

Nawasilisha.

Few leaders leave behind a legacy as enduring as the one Prof. Ipara has built during his tenure. His vision transformed not just the institution he led, but the lives of everyone fortunate enough to work alongside him. I count myself among the most fortunate, for he saw potential in me before I fully recognized it in myself. He entrusted me with responsibility across various roles, mentoring me with patience, wisdom, and an unwavering belief in my ability to grow. Under his guidance, I learned that true leadership is not about commanding from a distance but about walking beside those you lead, lifting them up, and giving them room to find their own strength.
As he steps down from office, he leaves behind more than policies and achievements; he leaves behind a generation of people he shaped, inspired, and empowered. His legacy will live on not only in the milestones the institution reached under his stewardship, but in every person like me that he took a chance on, every one of us he nurtured, and the very lives he touched with his example. To him, I owe a debt of gratitude that words can scarcely capture. As he begins this new chapter, I wish him a retirement filled with the peace, joy, and honor that his years of visionary service so richly deserve. Thank you for believing in me, for leading with integrity, and for showing all of us what it truly means to serve with purpose.

Dear Prof.,
As you conclude your remarkable tenure, I wish to express my deepest gratitude for the invaluable mentorship, unwavering support, and countless opportunities for growth that you have accorded me over the years.
Thank you for your open-door policy, your willingness to listen, the many pearls of wisdom you shared so generously (which I can gladly sit and listen to all day long) and the guidance which has not only shaped my professional journey but has also enriched my personal growth.
From the day I walked into Kibabii University for my interview in 2022 to this very moment as we gather to celebrate your service, you’ve believed in me, challenged me to strive for excellence, and inspired me to become a better version of myself each day. For that, I will remain profoundly grateful.
Your influence on my life will endure far beyond this farewell. If there is one consolation in your departure, it is that you leave behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those of us who had the privilege of working under your leadership. I will carry forward many of the lessons I have learned from you—your visionary leadership, humility, integrity, fairness, decisiveness, commitment to excellence, and your genuine concern for the people you served.
As you embark on the next chapter of your journey, I pray that God grants you good health, abundant joy, and many more years of fulfillment and impact. May the seeds you have sown continue to bear fruit, and may you find satisfaction in knowing that you have made a lasting difference in the lives of many.
It has been an honour and a privilege to serve under your leadership and May God richly bless you.

Dear Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo,
Some leaders build institutions. You built people.
You took a chance on me as a Graduate Assistant when all I had was potential. Today, I stand as a Tutorial Fellow, on the verge of earning my PhD. I am living proof of the doors you opened and the faith you placed in me.
You did not just lead Kibabii University; you lifted those within it. Your legacy is not only written in buildings or titles, but also in the lives you transformed, mine among them.
Thank you, Prof. May God bless you abundantly in this next chapter.
Well done, good and faithful servant.

TRIBUTE TO AN EXEMPLARY LEADER: PROF. ISAAC IPARA ODEO
Honouring a Legacy of Visionary Leadership, Integrity, and Transformational Governance
On behalf of the Department of Information Technology and my own behalf, I extend our deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to our outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Prof. ISAAC Ipara Odeo, for his exemplary leadership, unwavering commitment, and distinguished service to Kibabii University.
Your tenure has been marked by visionary leadership, prudent governance, and an unrelenting pursuit of academic excellence. Through your wisdom and dedication, you have strengthened the University's foundation, fostered a culture of accountability and innovation, and inspired staff and students alike to pursue excellence in teaching, research, community engagement, and service.
Your leadership has demonstrated that true greatness is measured not by authority but by the positive impact one leaves on people and institutions. Under your stewardship, Kibabii University has continued to grow in stature, embracing transformation while remaining anchored in integrity, professionalism, and sound governance.
The words of Proverbs 29:2 aptly describe your leadership:
"When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice."»
Indeed, the University community has been blessed by your wisdom, humility, and servant-hearted leadership.
As you transition into the next chapter of your life, we celebrate the enduring legacy you leave behind—a legacy built on vision, resilience, inclusivity, and excellence. Future generations of scholars will continue to benefit from the structures, systems, and values you have established.
The Scriptures remind us in Joshua 1:9:
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."»
May the Lord continue to guide your steps, strengthen your hands for new assignments, and reward your faithful stewardship abundantly.
We also pray that the promise of Psalm 92:12–14 will continually be fulfilled in your life:
"The righteous will flourish like a palm tree... They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green."»
May God grant you good health, divine favour, peace, and renewed strength as you continue to mentor leaders, contribute to scholarship, and serve society with distinction.
As Scripture declares in 1 Corinthians 15:58:
"Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord,»

Prof I.I. Odeo,
It is not easy to summon the courage to write about you at this moment in time as you exit from the Kibu stage.
I will remember you for your rare virtue of generosity. During your tenure; you led us in contributing foodstuffs ( dry maize to be precise), direct from your Tongaren farm to feed the most needy and starving students, especially in Semester 2.They were very grateful indeed. You inspired many colleagues in nurturing the spirit of generosity. You were such a caring Father who ensured that no student slept hungry.I will urge us to scale up our contributions as a way of sustaining this legacy you implanted in us.
God richly bless & keep you in your next cycle of life outside Kibu.

A Tribute to Prof. Isaac Ipara: A Legacy of Humility, Character, and Exemplary Leadership
"If you want to test a man's character, give him power." Few observations capture the essence of leadership more profoundly than these timeless words. Character is most clearly revealed not in the pursuit of authority, but in the manner in which authority is exercised.
As Prof. Isaac Ipara concludes his distinguished tenure as Vice Chancellor, he leaves behind more than the accomplishments of an office—he leaves the enduring example of a leader whose greatest strength was the nobility of his character. In an era when power often creates distance, he chose proximity. When authority could have demanded privilege, he embraced humility. His simplicity was not ordinary; it was the outward expression of the magnanimity of his soul.
He led with quiet confidence, unwavering integrity, and genuine respect for every member of the university community. Whether engaging professors, students, administrators, or support staff, he exemplified a rare humanity that reminded us that true leadership is measured not by titles, but by the dignity with which one treats others.
The finest leaders are remembered not merely for the institutions they managed, but for the values they embodied and the lives they transformed. Prof. Ipara has demonstrated that authentic leadership is anchored in character rather than authority, in service rather than status, and in humility rather than self-importance. Such leadership inspires trust, cultivates excellence, and leaves an indelible mark on generations.
As you embark on the next chapter of your journey, Prof. Ipara, may you carry with you the gratitude, admiration, and best wishes of a community privileged to have served under your stewardship. Thank you for showing us that greatness is not proclaimed—it is lived through compassion, integrity, and selfless service.
Your legacy will endure, not only in the history of this University, but also in the hearts and minds of all whose lives you have touched.

Dear Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo, Outgoing Vice Chancellor Kibabii University.
As you conclude your distinguished tenure as Vice Chancellor of Kibabii University, I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation for your dedicated, passionate, and visionary leadership. Your wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment have steered Kibabii University onto the global map, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.
I vividly remember my interview for the position of Tutorial Fellow in the Department of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences. I walked into the interview room filled with tension and uncertainty. Sensing my anxiety, you smiled and asked a simple but memorable question: "What did you have for your breakfast?" That light-hearted moment instantly eased my nerves, gave me confidence, and allowed me to present myself with composure. It was more than just a question—it reflected your wisdom, humanity, and understanding of people.
I remain deeply grateful that you entrusted me with the opportunity to serve as a Tutorial Fellow. Your confidence in me marked the beginning of a fulfilling academic journey, and I will always cherish that moment.
Thank you for your exceptional service, your mentorship, and the lasting impact you have made on the Kibabii University community. As you embark on the next chapter of your life, may God grant you good health, abundant blessings, and continued success in all your future endeavors.
Farewell, Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo. Your legacy will live on, and your contributions to Kibabii University will never be forgotten.

Ejakait Prof. Ipara, sua ngide a Ateker kibala Ejok noooii.
From the Mountains of Karimojong, Iteso of Kenya and Uganda of Papa Emormor, the Toposa of South Sudan, the Nyang'atom of Ethiopia and the Turkwan....regardless of the international boarders, the ATEKER community connected by blood is proud of you for you raised our flag high Ekapolon Ipara.
I will be forever grateful for the utmost belief you had in the three girls from Turkana that you gave a chance to work in the noble institution KIBU. The patriarchal nature of our community would have favoured the boychild but Instead the three of us(Audan, Awesit and Gladys) got proper mentorship, rightful Empowerment all thanks to you Prof.
Prof. Remember the interview room in the sunny lodwar, that naive, reserved and shy girl in unofficial kitenge dress left that interview empowered, with the zeal to face the future and self belief because your words; Apese, you have a bright future" rekindled something in me, a new Audan was created that day and to the achievements I have today, I attribute all of them, big or small to those words that were subsequently followed by constant mentorship, guidance and fatherly patience when dealing with a girl from the Pastoralist community.
I became the 1st KIBU women rep(KUSU), I got a masters and later a Doctorate and became the 1st Woman in Turkana Central but 3rd woman in the County to have a Doctorate. Now many girls are inspired by my journey, not knowing mine started with words Apese, you have a bright future and you will go far" Your words were inspirational enough
Prof, I witnessed you stay calm in stormy situations, I have watched you smile with people that didn't like you but smile to your face, you carried KIBU with profound integrity and honor. The growth of KIBU is a testament to your Legacy. You not only built buildings, you built Kenyans, You built the marginalised community.

For me I choose to celebrate the Iteso community.
They have always been my destiny connector. All my bosses have been from Iteso community. Prof. Okalebo, Prof. Omunyin, Prof. Odeo.
In May 2015, I was still a small boy who was struggling to make ends meet being out of job. I got a call from Kibabii University to attend an interview which was a shock to me coz I knew I don't qualify and Kenya being Kenya, I knew they already have someone so am just escorting someone.
Came the interview day and I was very nervous coz that was the first time I was attending a serious interview. Prof. Odeo never asked me a single question.
Towards the end, the only comment he made to me was "You are a student of Prof. Okalebo".
To my PhD journey. I started my PhD at University of Eldoret but along the way I dropped. That decision almost cost my contract not to be renewed because I didn't have a progress report. Prof. Odeo being a father directed Prof. Maiyo that he wants to see Majengo with a PhD.
Prof. Maiyo went all the way to University of Eldoret to to Prof. Ngetich to inquire what is the problem but I had made up my mind that am not going back to UoE.
To make sure Majengo gets a PhD, Prof. Ipara authorize for me to be paid all my gratuity that was in arrears. Anybody who was to paid gratuity that Year was removed and Majengo was paid 2M. That's the money that financed my field work.
Prof. Ipara, I will always be grateful to you coz you believe in me.

Today I pay tribute to a remarkable leader and mentor who believed in me when I had little to offer ,I only held a diploma certificate working in the kitchen, you saw my potential and encouraged my growth and guided me until I became a head of department with a masters degree. Prof.. It was a great honour and privilege to work under you as Registrar Administration & HR. You had a passion for staff matters.. You believed in me.. You gave me freedom to think, innovate, make decisions and grow professionally.. You valued excellence and I was always motivated to meet and exceed your expectations.. You are my destiny helper.. God appointed you as the VC of KIBU for my sake.. during some of the most challenging times, you stood by me and supported me..
